GREAT MOMENTS IN GAMING

Blackjack is born...
Globally popular and made famous for its unique status as the beatable casino game, Blackjack’s origins date back to the 17th Century and beyond.
The first historical reference was to the game twenty-one; playwright, poet, novelist and gaming fan Miguel de Cervantes including Blackjack’s ancestor in a short story about Spanish hustlers in Seville.
While the principles of the game described were much the same, the Spanish variant evolved into the classic modern form at a later date and earned its name on US shores.
In an effort to make the game more fashionable amongst American players, a bonus of 10-1 was awarded to hands that consisted of the Ace of Spades plus a black Jack, be it Spades or Clubs.
Needless to say, the name stuck (even though this particular bonus did not) and the number of variations continued to multiply – with more than 40 ways to chase 21 in our casino alone!
